Account Executive—Outside Sales Midwest Territory

Account Executive

Outside sales position with direct report to the Director of Sales.  In this role you will have defined territory responsibility and successfully execute all sales activities related to assigned accounts.  You will also autonomously manage quality and consistency of product and service delivery.  High visibility in this position requires a polished professional appearance to maintain our positive company image.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate company staff.
  • Coordinate company staff to accomplish the work required to close sales.
  • Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce stock.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Account Executives are expected to perform as a relationship manager and take a consultative approach to selling.
  • Account Executives develop and penetrate each of their accounts by selling the full mix of Package All product categories through presentation of new products, ideas, sales tools, and services.
  • Account Executives will research and share industry and market programs, introduce customers to company product specialists, and follow through on customer requests for information and samples.
  • This position requires varied work hours such as some evening work for sales planning and customer contact calls and the occasional overnight travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Present and sell company products and services to current and potential clients.
  • Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made.
  • Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
  • Identify sales prospects and contact these and other accounts as assigned.
  • Prepare presentations, proposals, and sales contracts.
  • Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge.
  • Establish and maintain current client and potential client relationships.
  • Prepare paperwork to activate and maintain contract services.
  • Manage account services through quality checks and other follow-ups.
  • Identify and resolve client concerns.
  • Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, closings, follow-ups, and adherence to goals.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office Word, Outlook, and Excel; Sage ACT!)
  • Excellent reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required
  • Ability to persuade and influence others
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Ability to author and edit written materials
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques
  • Minimum 1-3 years of outside sales, or packaging related experience
  • Dimensions required include: a good working knowledge of business math, excellent communication and decision-making skills, coaching, planning, and follow-up, managing work, persuasiveness, and a professional demeanor

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be physically able to call on customer accounts, safely lift products and equipment of up to 50 lbs. from the seat or trunk of a vehicle, and hand carry them into customer locations.  This may involve the climbing of stairs or ramps, and may be required in all types of weather conditions.
 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires significant local travel to current and potential clients.  This requires the possession of a reliable personal vehicle and maintenance of a valid state driver’s license and auto liability insurance limits of at least 100/300/50.
  • Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events.
  • Follow-up for collection of payment.
  • Coordinate shipping schedules and delivery of merchandise and services.
